This kindergarten project is conceived as a flexible and sustainable educational facility that doubles as a public space, designed to nurture children’s physical, emotional, and social development while remaining adaptable to different scenarios of use. Located in the Kolovice region, an area with low construction density and sloping topography, the design responds to the site by rehabilitating damaged land through slope regulation and minimal interventions, positioning the entrance from the western road for optimal accessibility. The structure strategically embraces the hill, transforming it into part of the building’s roof and façade through a green band that enhances functionality and supports small-scale agricultural production, fostering environmental awareness among children. The building, envisioned as a single-story structure with a raft foundation, integrates concrete, steel, wood, and soil materials, combining durability with environmental sensitivity. Its green roof not only improves energy efficiency and collects rainwater but also provides usable outdoor spaces, while curvilinear wall junctions and varied floor surfaces enhance safety and interaction for children. Functionally, offices, storage areas, and technical rooms frame the entrance, leading to a day care section with a quiet inner courtyard and garden on one side, and a play corridor connecting to the kindergarten on the other. The kindergarten area features multiple courtyards, including a larger one with an amphitheater that connects to the roof, alongside shared spaces that open toward these outdoor areas. Spaces are designed to be reconfigurable, allowing classrooms to merge or transform when needed, and when not serving educational purposes, the facility can seamlessly function as a civic unit supporting community life. By prioritizing sustainability, flexibility, and technical innovation, the project reinforces contemporary educational values while embedding itself as an inclusive and resilient element of the urban fabric.
