Crossroad Solution

The project addresses one of Prishtina’s most challenging traffic nodes: the intersection above “Gorenje”. This junction connects “Nekibe Kelmendi” Street with New Prishtina, Veternik, Hajvalia, and the Gjilan exit. At present, it is heavily congested, with long traffic queues and unsafe conditions for pedestrians. The proposed design introduces a modern intersection that eliminates bottlenecks and allows for direct, unhindered access in all directions. By restructuring traffic flow and improving pedestrian safety, the project provides a practical solution to the city’s growing mobility demands. Extensive traffic simulations have been carried out to test the design under varying growth scenarios, including 30%, 60%, and 100% increases in traffic. The results confirm that the intersection performs reliably and remains sustainable even under doubled traffic volumes. As a long-term investment, the project is expected to remain effective for the next 20–30 years. It represents a significant step toward modernizing Prishtina’s transport infrastructure and supports the city’s transformation into a capital with intelligent, sustainable, and future-ready mobility systems.
